The Voyager

Με το τέλος της χρονιάς αποφάσισα να αλλάξω πολλά όσον αφορά τουλάχιστον το blog μου και την παρουσία μου στο ελληνικό Internet. Για να μην λέω πολλά το http://ilias.webatlantis.org έφτασε στο τέλος του και δεν θα ανανεωθεί ξανά με νέα posts, χωρίς όμως να σημαίνει αυτό πως σταματάω εδώ.

To The Voyager blog μεταφέρετε σε δικό του domain και μάλιστα .gr, μια και αποφάσισα να είναι αποκλειστικά στα ελληνικά, όσο τουλάχιστον δυνατόν είναι αυτό. Το νέο domain θα είναι τo http://thevoyager.gr ενώ το feed του Blog σε λίγες ώρες απο τώρα  θα δείχνει στο νέο blog.

Επίσης θα ήθελα να αναφέρω πως το http://ilias.webatlantis.org δε θα κλείσει ούτε και θα μεταφερθεί κάποιο post ώστε να μπορεί ο καθένας να ανατρέξει σε παλαιότερα post.

Τους λόγους για τους οποίους έκανα αυτές τις αλλαγές θα έχετε τη δυνατότητα να διαβάσετε στο νέο blog σε επόμενα post.

Στο σημείο αυτό, ζητώντας προκαταβολικά συγνώμη, θα σας παρακαλούσα να αλλάξετε τα bookmarks σας ή τους συνδέσμους στο domain http://thevoyager.gr.

Όπως ανακοίνωσε η εταιρεία Six Apart, η πλατφόρμα Moveable Type, μια από τις γνωστότερες και πιο ευρέως χρησιμοποιούμενες πλατφόρμες πάνω στις οποίες βασίζονται τα περισσότερα weblogs του παγκόσμιου ιστού, μετατρέπεται σε open source. Αυτό σημαίνει πως πλέον ο καθένας μπορεί να την μεταβάλλει, να την διανέμει καθώς και να την χρησιμοποιήσει για όποιον σκοπό αυτός επιθυμεί.

Μόλις εχθές έκανα την αναβάθμιση του blog σε Wordpress 2.3 με σχετική επιτυχία. Το σχετική βέβαια γιατί υπάρχει ένα προβληματάκι το οποίο αφενός δεν είναι σοβαρό και δεν δημιουργεί κάποιο πρόβλημα, αλλά όπως και να έχει θα πρέπει να διορθωθεί..

Btw. Σιγουρεύτητε πως πριν κάνετε κάποια αναβάθμιση, έχετε πρώτα ελέγξει πως τα plugin που χρησιμοποιείτε “δουλεύουν” με Wordpress 2.3. Σε περίπτωση που δεν είστε σίγουροι απενεργοποιήστε τα plugins αυτά.

The 2.3 version of WordPress “Dexter” is now ready for the world. This release is named for the great tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon. This release includes native tagging support, plugin update notification, URL handling improvements, and much more.

1. Native tagging support allows you to use tags in addition to categories on your post, if you so choose. We’ve included importers for the Ultimate Tag Warrior, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati Tag plugins so if you’ve already been using a tagging plugin you can bring your data into the new system. The tagging system is also wicked-fast, so your host won’t mind.
2. Our new update notification lets you know when there is a new release of WordPress or when any of the plugins you use has an update available. It works by sending your blog URL, plugins, and version information to our new api.wordpress.org service which then compares it to the plugin database and tells you what the latest and greatest is you can use.
3. We’ve cleaned up URLs a bunch in a feature we call canonical URLs which does things like enforce your no-www preference, redirect posts with changed slugs so a link never goes bad, redirect URLs that get cut off in emails on similar to the correct post, and much more. This helps your users, and it also helps your search engine optimization, as search engines like for each page to be available in one canonical location. More info here.
4. Our new pending review feature will be great for multi-author blogs. It allows authors to submit a post for review by an editor or administrator, where before they would just have to save a draft and hope someone noticed it.
5. There is new advanced WYSIWYG functionality (we call it the kitchen sink button) that allows you to access some features of TinyMCE that were previously hidden.

Εκλογές τέλος, Eurobasket τέλος, φωτιές τέλος εδώ και αρκετές μέρες.. ελπίζω να ηρεμήσουν απο δώ και πέρα κάπως τα πράγματα, ώστε να μπούμε όλοι σε μια σειρά..

Την Πέμπτη θα βρίσκομαι στην Αθήνα για την έκδοση της Visa που χρειάζομαι για το ταξιδάκι που ετοιμάζω. Ελπίζω τουλάχιστον να μην μπλέξω και να πάνε όλα καλά μια και πρέπει να γυρίσω σύντομα.

Ρίξτε κι εσείς μια ματιά στο 2ο σχόλιο εδώ.. Γιατί κάποιος να μπεί στον κόπο να σχολιάσει και μάλιστα με τέτοιο τρόπο μια “αστεία εικόνα”. Ανκαι τώρα που το ξανασκεπτομαι δεν είναι μόνο αστεία.. έχει και τις αλήθειες της, αλλά θα επανέλθω στο θέμα αυτό αργότερα.

Διάβασα πριν λιγo εδώ πως το iPhone λειουργεί πλέον με κάποιες επεμβάσεις και στην Ελλάδα. Αμέσως βέβαια μου μπήκαν ιδέες για την απόκτηση ενός iPhone. Μήπως να το ξεχάσω και να περιμένω τουλάχιστον την Ευρωπαϊκή έκδοση, ή να το ξεχάσω τελείως;
